Our Miniature and Toy Australian Shepherds have a very even temperament and loving disposition. They are eager to learn, enjoy new experiences, and are very adaptive to the environment around them. They are just as happy horse back riding and hiking as they are playing with our niece or curled up at your feet while watching TV.
Life expectancy:
12-15 years
The lifespan can vary dramatically from dog to dog. The lifespan is also affected by the dog’s environment. If your dog is treated well, given good food and exercise, and visits the vet routinely, he has a much better chance of living out a nice, long life.
Temperment:
Aussies are devoted to their people. They like to be as close to them as possible: sitting on a foot, leaning against a leg, or even wedging themselves into your lap. That’s probably to make you feel better about not being quite as smart as the Aussie.
Activity:
Australian Shepherds need roughly 30 to 60 minutes of exercise a day, preferably with high-energy activities like playing Frisbee. They need a job to do as well, such as daily obedience training or competing in herding and agility trials.
